		<description>The IMIA Board has agreed to the formation of the IMIA Open Source Working Group (OSWG) Annual Achievement Award. The Award will be  given to a person, group or organisation that has, in the view of the Award Committee, demonstrated commitment to, and a track record of, active involvement and achievement in the promotion of free/libre and open source software in the health informatics domain. The award may be given for significant achievement within the preceding year, or as a &amp;#39;long service&amp;#39; award for contribution over a significant period of time. It is anticipated that the Inaugural Award (2006) will be made at the AMIA2006 conference - more new later. 		<description>The Libre/Free and Open Source Working Group of EFMI was formally launched at a workshop held at MIE2006 in Maastricht, The Netherlands. Karl Oyri (Norway) and Peter Murray (UK) were confirmed as the founding co-chairs of the WG. The workshop explored ideas for initial activities, which will be developed over the coming months. </description>
